The new doubles pair of Marcel Granollers and Rajeev Ram beat Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau to win the Rolex Paris Masters

Marcel Granollers and Rajeev Ram, playing their first tournament together, concluded their stellar week at the Rolex Paris Masters by taking just 71 minutes to beat Dutchman Jean-Julien Rojer and Romanian Horia Tecau and lift their first doubles trophy together as a team on Sunday.

The 32-year-old Spaniard Granollers and his 34-year-old American partner Ram finished off a dazzling week, during which they didn’t drop a single set, in some style, winning 6-4 6-4.

It left Granollers, who was able to celebrate his 16th tour-level doubles title, to praise his veteran partner. “From the first match we felt very good on the court together. All the four matches we played, we played at a high level. We are very happy to end this week with the trophy.”

It was third time lucky for Granollers, who lost his previous two doubles finals here with Tommy Robredo in 2009 and Ivan Dodig last year. “I’m very happy,” he smiled.

For Ram, it was a 17th doubles title, and a third of the year, leaving him to reflect that it was much more of a pleasure playing alongside the Spaniard than against him.

“I've lost against Marcel so many times, I thought, 'finally, it is good to have him on my side'," laughed Ram. "We have known each other for years and played against each other in singles and doubles. It was a really great chemistry. We felt comfortable right from the beginning and had some really great wins.”
