Wheelchair tennis: a second edition not to be missed!
The draw for the second edition of the Rolex Paris Masters wheelchair tennis tournament took place on Thursday in the Plenitude Arena media centre.
The world’s best players, a prestigious stage and three days of high-quality competition... all the ingredients are in place for another spectacular event. For the second consecutive year, the Rolex Paris Masters will host a WC500 wheelchair tennis tournament featuring both singles and doubles competition.
The stars of the discipline now know what lies ahead following Thursday's draw ceremony, conducted in the presence of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
Defending singles champion Alfie Hewett (No.1) will begin his campaign against China's Zhenxu Ji (No.7). Should both players progress, Hewett could face fellow Briton Gordon Reid (No.4) in the semi-finals, setting up a rematch of the 2025 championship match.
Before thinking that far ahead, however, Reid must first overcome Stéphane Houdet (No.5), France’s No.1 player and the current world No.6. In the bottom half of the draw, Martin De La Puente (No.2) will open his tournament against Dutchman Tom Egberink (No.6).
“This is not simply an event, it is the result of an entire federation-wide inclusion strategy,” FFT President Gilles Moretton explained during the ceremony. “The Rolex Paris Masters provides a showcase for wheelchair tennis and allows us to bring it to as many people as possible. The matches are extraordinary, both in singles and doubles.”
