First round: The curtain rises

A Paris champion, four French players and the first doubles teams in action: here’s what to expect from the opening day of the main-draw competition at the Plenitude Arena.
Centre court ready to celebrate
From 11am, fans attending the opening day of first-round action can look forward to an enticing clash between Lorenzo Musetti and Hubert Hurkacz. The Pole, a semifinalist in 2021 and quarterfinalist in 2023, has not beaten this opponent since 2023 and has never defeated him on hard courts. He will be eager to return to winning ways at a tournament where he has traditionally performed well.
And the rest of the programme looks just as exciting. One of the sensations of the 2026 season, Rafael Jodar will be making his first appearance at the Paris Masters 1000. In his highly anticipated debut, he will take on Alejandro Tabilo, who reached the second round on his only previous appearance, in 2024.
And a Rolex Paris Masters evening means one thing: an electric atmosphere! Denis Shapovalov and Karen Khachanov will headline the first night session from 7pm, in a high-profile clash between the 2019 runner-up and the 2018 champion.
Ugo Humbert and Botic Van de Zandschulp will then have the task of bringing this opening day to a fitting close, in front of a crowd certain to be firmly behind the 2024 runner-up.
Three other French players, Luca Van Assche, Kyrian Jacquet and Titouan Droguet, will also be in action on Court 1, which promises plenty of excitement!
