2025 edition: Ugo Humbert forced to withdraw

Last year’s Rolex Paris Masters finalist and French No.1 has been forced to withdraw from the 2025 edition of the tournament.
After a remarkable run in 2024, during which he defeated Carlos Alcaraz and Karen Khachanov in three sets before falling to Alexander Zverev in the final, Ugo Humbert will unfortunately not be able to defend his chances at the first-ever Rolex Paris Masters held at Paris La Defense Arena.
Having been forced to retire last week during his semifinal in Basel against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, the Frenchman will not have the opportunity to face the Spaniard again in the first round in Paris, as his back injury remains too troublesome to compete. "I’m sad to announce that I won’t be able to take part in the tournament this year. After my withdrawal in Basel, where I felt pain in my back, it’s best for me to take some rest. I can’t wait to experience those incredible emotions again next year at the Rolex Paris Masters," Humbert said in a statement.
In the main draw of this 40th edition, Humbert’s spot will be taken by fellow Frenchman Valentin Royer, who enters the tournament as a lucky loser after falling in the second round of qualifying on Sunday to Sebastian Korda. Royer now faces a tough opening test against "ADF", the new World No.15 following his recent runner-up finish in Basel against rising star Joao Fonseca.
